What Do You Think About These Current Kitchen Design Trends?

Kitchens have evolved over the years from cooking and dining spaces only, to hangout spaces for friends and family. The colors and style of cabinets and types of appliances have also developed over time into a more modern reflection of our busy lives and unique personalities.

That’s why kitchen design experts are constantly examining the latest trends and how they may impact their clients and homeowners in general. And who doesn’t love to dream of making their kitchen an oasis from the work grind we all live in?

Let’s take a look at some of the more recent design trends to see what you think about the evolution of the kitchen in America.

Colorful Cabinetry

One change that experts have seen over the last few years (and especially over the pandemic) is the rise of homeowners choosing to paint their cabinets in colorful and unique ways.

Gone are the days of muted olive greens and plain whites on kitchen cabinetry. Bold, colorful cabinetry seems to be the trend these days.

Arianna Cesa, Associate Manager of Color Marketing and Development with Benjamin Moore, agrees. “We have seen consumers start to get more adventurous with their kitchen cabinet color choice,” she says, adding that emerald greens, rich navy blues, and smokey charcoals are a trending, bolder approach to kitchen cabinets. Coffee Stations

Americans love their coffee and having access to your own brew in your comfy kitchen is simply the best.

With our ever-increasing reliance on caffeine to get us through the day, many Americans are making it a priority to carve out a coffee station in their kitchens. From basic coffee to specialty espresso, coffee stations are an easy way to customize your kitchen without taking up too much counter space.

Appliance Garages

From the blender to the air fryer, Americans are adding more and more appliances to their countertops every year. What used to be a microwave carve-out and potentially a toaster, has expanded into an amazing world of small countertop appliances to suit our cooking and baking needs.

Unfortunately, all these appliances need cords and plugs and some even adapters. That’s where appliance garages are becoming popular. Pantries to hide cords and plugs or appliance garages to do the same, keep your most used appliances easily accessible while hiding the ugly cords.

Kitchen Islands

Kitchen islands aren’t just for prepping meals anymore. They serve as eating counters, homework spaces, breakfast nooks, and (on occasion) workspaces for those who are hybrid or remote since the pandemic.

Due to the changing functions of kitchen islands, many families are looking into expanding their island or adding a second island when room permits. This allows for multi-use and extra storage beneath the island for all those new appliances!

Hidden Storage

One thing there never seems to be enough of in the kitchen is storage. Contractors are getting savvy to the ways of adding storage that is hidden or uses the space best for the needs of their clients.
